A filing with the FCC last month offered some evidence that Creative had a new touch screen portable media player in the works. Named after the system-on-a-chip processor the company showed off during CES 2009, the Zii Egg has been officially unearthed today and its feature set actually shows promise. Nokia N97 Review

A review by Matt Buchanan for Gizmodo states why Nokia’s flagship N97 can’t compete with the likes of the iPhone 3GS, the Palm Pre or Android phones. He points out some glaring shortcomings of the phone like slow 424MHz processor and the outdated Symbian S60 OS to name a few. Click on the link to read the full review.

iPod Video?

In this TechCrunch article by Michael Arrington speculation is that the high end iPods like the iPod Touch, or even the low end ones except the Shuffle would be featured with video onboard.  That would definitely be on my Christmas wish list if it ever materializes in that time frame.  A lot of competitors are shaking in their boots.  Read this link.

GFI Backup

Found this Windows freebie, just about to download, test and compare it with TotalMedia Backup which came with the portable HDD that I just bought.  Saw some great comments about it.  GFI Backup, maybe for you especially if you don’t have any backup solution in place yet, you can’t beat the price.

Nokia turns to Android in Smartphone wars

Finnish mobile phone giant Nokia is trying out the Android platform to try and cut into the critical smartphone segment as it is the only part of the mobile phone market which is growing.  The Symbian platform is growing staid and old.  Consumers are looking for phones that can go on the internet, send emails and download third party applications.

Sony Ericsson “Rachael”

The Danish phone site Mobil has unveiled limited details of the upcoming Sony Ericsson Andriod based handset code name “Rachael” here is the English version posted on their site:

Sony Ericsson ”Rachael” is the codename of the Swedes' first Android-based mobile phone, that is expected to be announced later this year. It will be part of Sony Ericsson's series of XPERIA products. We've got our hands on internal documents about the phone, that seems to have the potential to be a sales success.

The phone is based on the Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon platform, that enables processor speeds up to 1 GHz, and HSPA-speeds up to 7.2 Mbps. This platform will also sport great 3D graphics capabilities.

The phone's built-in camera is an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus. There's also a 3.5 mm jack connector as well as a mini-USB connector at the top of the phone. The touch screen seems to be quite large, but as of yet there is no specific information about its size.

Photos: Archos 9 Windows 7 tablet hands-on

This article about the Archos 9 is not a full blown review, but an appetizing look into the new Laptop (CNET has it filed under laptops).  I would like to know how it performs with Windows 7, if the performance is outstanding I certainly would put on my Christmas Wish List.

Update on iPhone 3GS Heating Issue

An article by Jim Dalrymple on CNET News discounts reports about overheating on the Apple iPhone 3GS.  Reports even surfaced that the iTouch was overheating when upgraded to 3.0, I’ve installed the upgrade on my iTouch for a week now and I have not observed any heat issues.

iPod Touch vs Zune HD

I think my iPod Touch is getting stiff competition from the Zune HD.  Although the Touch to me is one of the best mp3 players around, head to head specs wise the Zune has characteristics the player from Apple can’t touch.  What sets the Touch apart is not any of the specs or hardware, but the way you can customize it to your needs via the App Store.  I’ve got a database I use to track my rental business, to-do-lists and all sorts of downloaded stuff that I have become attached to.  Microsoft might come out with an App Store of its own but it’ll have a lot of catching up to do.  See the review between the two best mp3 players.
